A few beaders
have mentioned that they were having a difficult time organizing
their bookmarks. I really don't know much about organizing, but I
would be happy to tell you what I do to help keep my bookmarks
and favorites in order. It's a small process but well worth it.
First I
made a folder in my bookmarks/favorites and I labeled it "Beading".
All of my beadwork related bookmarks/favorites were in this
folder to begin with. In this "Beading" folder I
created other folders. I began with "Beadwork Magazines"
then created "Projects & Patterns" then "tutorials"
and so on.
The next step was
the hardest. When I was finished creating all the folders I
needed in my bookmarks/favorites, I then went back and one by
one, I put my bookmarks into their corresponding folder. I had so
many bookmarks that this actually took a few days. The rest was
pretty easy.
Ever heard of Blink.com?
Blink.com is one of a few sites on the web of it's kind. It's a
place where you can store and organize your links. One of the
things I like about it is that you can import and export you
bookmarks/favorites from any browser to Blink and then back again
to any browser. It works with AOL, Internet Explorer and Netscape.
When I imported my AOL favorites to Blink, Blink alphabetized
them and removed the duplicate URL's which really cleaned up my
links. I then opened up Intenet Explorer, saved my Blink
bookmarks as a file, and exported them into my IE favorites. My
bookmarks /favorites were all organized!
There are other
sites that offer the same services. Backflip.com is one of them.
There are also lots of little features that I like. Blink keeps
track of "dead" links, "fresh" links, has a
search feature that enables you to search through your links, and
you can also publish your links on the web. Check it out! I hope
this helps...
